SWSLHD Library Training Sessions - ongoing

These training sessions are offered regularly and are bookable via the Library website or MyHealth Learning.

1. Research Skills for Allied Health Staff: 

These sessions will give staff a deeper knowledge in using relevant information resources from the Library and on the CIAP platform. They will also include how to search relevant clinical databases to obtain evidence-based information and how to access full-text journal articles, ebooks, and other resources on or off-site. 

2. EndNote Basics

Endnote is now available to SWSLHD staff on NSW Health computers by request.  This session provides training in using EndNote for the storage and management of bibliographic references

3. Systematic Review Training

This course is divided into three sections which can be attended individually or as a progression:

a) Systematic Review Series – Methodology

This training will present an introduction to systematic review methodology, planning a review protocol and sources to register it. 

b) Systematic Review Series - Systematic literature searching

This workshop will present a thorough, reliable and reproducible method for planning and conducting the search within multiple databases. 

c) Systematic Review Series - Managing citations and PRISMA report

This session will focus on managing the retrieved citations, dual reviewing process, and search methods documentation as a requirement for systematic review publication. 

4. Keeping Up to Date

Maintaining current awareness of developments in your field is essential for professional development as well as providing evidence-based patient care.  This practical session will cover the use of Library databases and other resources for keeping up to date. At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

- Set up alerts on the contents pages of relevant journals
- Save database searches and set up search alerts  
- Use Google Scholar to keep up to date
- Find relevant conferences


5. Where to publish? 

This practical session will help participants to be confident in their ability to choose the right journal for their publications. 

6. Online Research Profiles Management - Optimising your ORCID ID 

This course will help you to improve your online research presence and to optimise your Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID).
