The Centre for Applied Nursing Research (CANR) was established in 1991 as a joint venture between the School of Nursing and Midwifery
, Western Sydney University
and the South Western Sydney Local Health District
(SWSLHD). CANR is accessible to all employees of SWSLHD and Western Sydney University and aims to promote research and professional development within the two communities.
CANR's purpose is to undertake research, and to facilitate and support collaboration between nurses, midwives and academics that will generate research relevant to the clinical, health promotion and health education role of nurses and midwives, and provide a basis for evidence-based practice.
