Developing Patient Information Brochures: a guide to resources: Step 4: Checking and testing your resource

Procedure

  1. Check title reflects the original specific need and is clear to understand
  2. All contact details, telephone numbers, contact person, email addresses are CORRECT
  3. Consent forms have been signed if patient or staff photographs are used
  4. Images/diagrams are copyright approved and captioned and attributed to their source
  5. All logos are correctly placed and SWSLHD brand applies to your hospital
  6. Ensure only 2 colours are used, usually black and one primary colour and are suitable for both white or coloured paper readability
  7. Use the Feedback Form for written patient information to capture all necessary feedback evaluation for consumers
  8. Pilot your resource with 5 or more patients/consumers.2 staff/peers with no knowledge of the topic discussed.
  9. Take to Consumer board???
  10. Review feedback and adjust resource as required.
  11. Ensure an author (personal or team) is on the new resource with a publication and review date included, (review date no more than 3 years)
