The Clinical Library at Bankstown - Lidcombe Hospital is open 

Monday to Friday

8:30 to 17:00

Closed weekends and Public Holidays. 


The Clinical Library is located on Level 4, next to the Auditorium.


To access the Library's resources and services, you need to fill out a membership form.

Basic Library Regulations

  • No food is allowed in the Library.
  • Hot drinks (with lids) and sealed bottles are welcome.
  • We don't mind conversation , but please keep your voice down. People are working/studying/sleeping in the Library.
  • Return your books on time.
  • If you don't know, ask. We like questions.


  • You are entitled to borrow 6 items at any one time.
  • There are two loan periods
    • 3 weeks
    • 2 weeks
  • Books, Clinics of North America, and DVDs can be loaned. Journals are not loaned.
  • All loans can be renewed twice (for the same length of time as the original loan). After the second renewal, the items must be returned to the Library.
  • Items cannot be renewed if another borrower has placed a reserve on them or if they are already overdue.
  • If Items are returned after the due date, they will attract a fine of $1 per day, until returned.
  • Borrowing rights will be suspended until all items are returned and fines paid.
  • Items can be renewed via the Library catalogue. Items must be renewed BEFORE midnight of the due date.
  • Items can be renewed over the phone.
  • Items held in the other Libraries of SWSLHD, can be reserved and transferred for loan at Bankstown Hospital.
  • Suggestions for purchases are welcome, but subject to collection and budget constraints.

Renewing items

Library items can be renewed via our online catalogue, by phone, or in person. All items can be renewed twice after the initial lending period, but must be brought back to the library for renewal if you want to renew them past this point. Library items cannot be renewed if they are reserved by another patron, or are overdue (items fall overdue at midnight on the due date). 

When you join the Clinical Library, we will send you an email with your library PIN. You must activate it within 24 hours. If you lose it, or the email doesn't arrive, please contact the Library as soon as possible.

Renewing by phone.

Ring the Clinical Library on 9722 8250 between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and tell the duty staff member that you want to renew your items. Please make sure you have your library card ready.

Renewing items in person.

Come to the main desk at the Library during opening hours (see above) and present your library card, or staff ID. Tell the staff member on duty that you want to renew your items.

You can reserve items from any of the SWSLHD CLIN Libraries and have them delivered to your hospital library. Information on reserving items is here. You will need a PIN to access this service.
