Would you like to regularly review the Table of Contents from your favourite journals?
You can set up eTOCS for chosen titles and have the table of contents of new issues emailed weekly, monthly or quarterly, depending on the frequency of the journal. This is a great way of keeping up with new research to inform your clinical practice.
Individual eTOC email alerts can often be created directly on the journal website, although it may be more convenient to manage them together via a database platform e.g. in CIAP, Proquest and/or CINAHL.
eTOCS may also be called "alerts", "email alerts" or "e-alerts". Each journal platform has a slightly different process to register for eTOCS.
There are over 2,000 journals listed on CIAP. These include BMJ, JAMA, The Lancet, MJA and many more. From the CIAP Homepage select "Journals" in the left hand menu to see them.
From the journals page choose My Favourites to set up journal alerts. You will be prompted for your Staff login.
You can also see My Favourites from the other CIAP Ovid Discovery pages,
You can search for journals in CIAP by title and can browse the collection alphabetically 'by letter' or by subject
Once you have logged in you will see the option to Activate Journal Alert under the journals.
Note that there is another option via the CIAP Ovid databases platform - which includes Medline and other databases. Once you open Medline or one of the other Ovid databases in CIAP you will see My Workspace in the top menu. You will need to create an Ovid Personal account.
Having logged in you choose eTocs and then will be asked for the email address you want to use for your alerts. You will then see the options to add journal titles to your active eTOC subscriptions.
